Alistair Overeem, UFC
We all know Alistair Overeem UFC as, he is the current UFC heav weight champ. But who was he before he joined the UFC, and how was his early MMA career? Alistair Overeem first started out his MMA career in the fighting promotion Prde FC.
Before actually entering the 2003 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix at the Pride Total Elimination 2003, he won two more fights in the regular Pride FC fight league. In his fight at the Pride Total Elimination 2003, he lost to future and now former UFC light heavyweight champ Chuck The Ice Man Liddell in the quarter final fight match.
After this loss, Alistair Overeem UFC made his awesome come back where he defeated Tomohiko Hashimoto at the Inoki Bom Ba Ya 2003 event in just 36 seconds of the first round. On October 31st 2004, Halloween day, Overeem fought Hiromitsu Kanehara, where he took him down via technical knock out half way throught the first round of the fight at Pride 28. Unfortunately he lost his next fight against a Brazilian Top Team fighter Antonio Rogerio Noguiera.
Two years later in 2005, he entered the Pride Middle Weight Grand Prix at the Pride Total Elimination 2005 event. At the event Alistair Overeem defeated formed UFC light heavy weight champ Vitor Belfort via submission, once again in the very first round. He then went on to fight and defeat Igor Vovchanchyn in the quarter finals at the Pride Total Elmination 2005, where he took him down and submitted him in two minutes in the first round.
